Who We Are
Welcome to the Danville Muslim Community Center. More than a mosque, we are a gathering place. Somewhere our community comes to pray, to learn, to celebrate, and simply to be together. Whether you have worshipped with us for years or have only just arrived in Danville and are looking for a familiar face, you will find an open door and a warm welcome here.
Our Mission
The Danville Muslim Community Center exists to be a home for worship, learning, and belonging. We open our doors for the five daily prayers, for the study and understanding of Islam, and for gatherings throughout the year which are not only limited to religious celebrations, but also the everyday moments of fellowship that bring people closer together. We strive to welcome every newcomer to our area with warmth, offering guidance, friendship, and a place to belong, so that no one feels alone in a new home.

Imam Karim Mahmoud
Imam Karim Mahmoud began his Islamic education in Egypt, studying the Arabic language from a young age and completing his schooling in Alexandria. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies from Mishkah University, and holds an Ijāzah in Fiqh as well as an Ijāzah in al-Qā’idah al-Nūrāniyyah (Qur’anic recitation) from Madinah, Saudi Arabia.
For more than a decade, he has served Muslim communities across the United States as an imam, teacher, and principal. He has been leading daily prayers and Friday khutbahs, teaching Qur’an, Arabic, and Islamic studies to students of every age, conducting matrimonial services, and guiding new Muslims through da’wah programs at centers and schools in New Jersey, Florida, and Maryland.
He is the founder of IMEZ Academy, an online platform for Qur’an, Arabic, and Islamic studies, and continues to teach and mentor students today. Known for his warmth, patience, and devotion to learning, Imam Karim is committed to nurturing knowledge, good character, and a strong sense of community at the Danville Muslim Community Center.

Dr. Hamid Bin Mukhtar, MD
President
Dr. Hamid Bin Mukhtar is a hospitalist at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, with a distinguished career in medicine spanning three continents. He graduated as the top graduate of his class from Nishtar Medical College in Pakistan, then trained in cardiovascular medicine in the United Kingdom, earning his MRCP from the Royal College of Physicians in London and a PhD in Cardiovascular Medicine from the University of Birmingham. He went on to serve for several years as a consultant cardiologist in Saudi Arabia before moving to the United States, where he has practiced at Geisinger since 2004. A Fellow of both the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) and the American College of Physicians (FACP), he is a devoted supporter of the Danville Muslim Community Center.

Dr. Mahmoud Talaat Sabri, MD
Treasurer
Dr. Mahmoud Talaat Sabri is a board-certified, fellowship-trained pediatric gastroenterologist at Geisinger in Danville. He earned his medical degree from the Alexandria University Faculty of Medicine in Egypt, completed his residency at Maimonides Medical Center, and finished his fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in pediatric gastroenterology, his clinical interests include inflammatory bowel disease, reflux, and motility disorders. He is a valued supporter of the Danville Muslim Community Center.
